She died in 1997. When she wrote and published "Stormy, Misty's Foal" in 1963 (the sequel to "Misty of Chincoteague"), I was 4 years old. She lived in the small town of Wayne, IL -- about two blocks from my aunt. I still have a personally autographed first edition of that book. My aunt would take me over to her house, and Margurite Henry read the book to me while I was sitting on her lap!

Apparently she makes Christmas pudding in under 10 minutes using anchor butter and a microwave - my mum is coming over to mine this Christmas and i need to pretend I know how to cook!

Pudding Ingredients

50 g butter 50 g cherries

50 g plain flour 50 g currants

One teaspoon mixed spice juice of half a lemon

75 g white breadcrumbs 2 eggs

100 g soft dark brown sugar 2 tablespoons of treacle

150 g sultanas 1 tablespoon of golden syrup

75 g raisins 50 ml orange juice

50 g dates 75 ml apple juice

Method

Sieve all the dry ingredients together and mix well.

Stir in all remaining ingredients until mixed.

Lightly grease a half-litre (one pint) microwave-safe pudding basin and fill with the mixture.

Cover with clingfilm and make a slit in the top to allow steam to escape. Cook in microwave on high for 10 minutes.

Allow to stand for 10 minutes after cooking.

Sprinkle with brandy and serve.

early on in my pregancy i picked the name Isabelle pearl if it was a girl and when i found it was a girl yesterday i called every one i know and told them it was gonna be a isabelle and i like the name isabelle but i keep thinking for some reason i should name her marguerite pearl but then i tell my self no that is way to near her great grandmothers name Margaret Pearl and i have already told everyone to expect an Isabelle ....... It doesn't help that up till yesterdays ultrasound i was calling her tristan be cause i had decied it was a boy.

Back to the names-I think that Marguerite Pearl is beautiful and the fact that it is so close to your great grandmothers name, I think it would be such a touching tribute to her that it makes the name more beautiful to me! I also do like the name Isabelle Pearl though. People can call her Isa (ee-sa) or Belle for short if you want, I don't know if you are Latin American. The pepper needs about 2ft dia growing space

The beefmaster needs about 3 ft dia growing space

Reply:Impatients (my personal favorite-year 'round):

pots-3 or 4 inches apart (I put 3 in a regular size hanging basket, for instance).

ground-6 inches apart (ya don't have to be exact)

Sweet Papas (great choice):

pots-1 per bigger pot.

ground- 1 per side of porch (for instance). Potatoes will grow deeper than wide but, vine will be 20/30 feet.

Marigold- they don't like pots here. Ground-10 inches apart.

Peppers:

pots-1 per pot. You can plant a few petunias or impatients around the left over space if ya want. Choose a color that will accent the pepper plant.

ground- 20 inches (there abouts).

petunia same as impatients

tomato:

pot-1 in 5 gallon bucket or same size (deep), cage and stake when you plant.

ground- 30 inches, cage and stake, too.

double impatients more delicate than regular, same instructions.

Water everything thoroughly every time they get dryish or if you see them wilting, just give them a little drink and you can practically watch them perk back up.

Use SuperThrive 1/4 tsp per gallon water when you plant and every 6 months. You can use miracle grow every week or when ya feel like it.

All impatients prefer shade and don't mind a little sun. They don't like hot and will die when it gets hot (June, July)

sweet potato Full Sun but, they might grow into the shade when they are climbing so that's ok.

marigolds, peppers, tomato-Full Sun.

petunias like full sun AND like sun with shaddy part time.

All these flower types you have chosen come in lots of colors. It's hard to choose...I like to by 6 paks of these particular bedding plants and if ya wanna try seeds, pick up some zennias. Zennias go perfect with this combination you have chosen.

P.S. Don't forget to put wholes in the buckets for drainage. I know they are ugly but, tomatoes love them. You can paint them.

I bought a painting at a flea market, and I have done some research. The artists name is "Marguerite Stuber Pearson". I have reason to belive this may be an original. Any ideas?

First of all, an original painting is not necessarily worth anything other than what you pay for it- the painting might be valuable only if the artist is well-known. If this is the case, then you would need to research what is called "provenance;" this is the record of the ownership of the painting, as it has changed hands through auctions and what-not. Barring that, you would need to see an expert who is familiar with the artist's work, or even better, the artist himself, if he is still alive.
Reply:Go to a reputable Art Gallery and have it appraised. They should be able to tell you by just looking at it if it would be worth having it appraised. Appraisal is not expensive. Maybe about $50 -$100. If you do have it appraised and it is worth money bring your appraisal to your insurance and have it insured. Insurance is very reasonable.

Try a ancestry tree on the net. You might have better luck. Many unknown artist's work survived their families, If you see something in this painting that calls to you, don't second guess it. You were meant to have this painting.

Hi!

Two weeks from now, I'll be heading up to NYC for another stint of auditions for Broadway Musical Theatre.

I have A LOT on my plate right now, and would like some suggestions on pieces to perform for 16-bars.

I have a wide range, but am most comfortable as a mezzo soprano (having performed as Eponine, Fontine, Marguerite St. Just, Elphiba, Lucy, Maria Von Trapp and others).

I refuse to do anything from Les Mis (although I LOVE it), Wicked, or Phantom.

I was thinking the following:

"A New Life"- Jekyll and Hyde

"Hold On"- The Secret Garden"

"I'll Forget You"- The Scarlet Pimpernel

Clematis (Clemmie)-Clemmie's a cute nickname for a baby but i don't think either of them are good for an adult

Saffron-i like it. I knew a little girl with this name and her parents called her Saffy.

Fiore-sound elegant and french. Good.

Posy-It sounds like Pansy which reminds me of the blonde girl from the queens nose. I prefer Pansy to Posy.

Tansy-I love the name but my sis went to school with a girl called Tansy who now pregnant with twin and shes 16 or 17.

Astère-Space age

Marguerite-I don't like it.

Achillea-It would sound nice when said by someone with a sexy european accent.

Ivy-Pretty. Reminds me of a kind hearted, full of energy old lady who is sitting in a conservatory winding flowers through fences.

Clemencie-I don't like it.

If you want to name your child and have her not be teased or have her name misprounced for her whole life than don't use any of these. Ivy is a ugly name, Clematis is like clitoris, Posy will be called Pose her whole life, Tansy will be called Teenie Tansy, Marguerite will sound like the drink, Achillea sounds like your achilles tendon, Fiore sounds like fire, Saffron makes me hungry. So sorry no go here.

And as for children being bullied, I partly agree that it is not necessarily because of their name, but I think in some situations it doesn't help. I went to college with a girl called Iona Hoare and she survived!

A Circle of Friends

I came here one year ago today

To my dismay, the place was figgen’ crazy

I put in my two cents

And lost ten points…a bad start

I tried philosophy, psychiatry

And all the other maladies

I turned to recipes and trigonometries

But still, no one would talk to me

Race Cars, Gay Bars,

Areoplanes and Ships to Mars

It seemed the harder that I tried

The more I realized, I was a square

Then I came to poetry

A place where girls frolicked

…Some freely

Then the dudes, Todd, Dondi and you

Plastered up some beautiful stuff

I read and watched and listened in

To lessons taught by Cinn-o-min

Then I met a Totem tall

And heard from Paris, a gentle call

I got out some notes from long, long ago

Posted a couple of poems to show

I asked if I’m gentle, tender or sweet

“Oh, Yes!” was the word from dear Marguerite

Then, on a plane, along with Elaine

Game poets from Lisbon, Enid and Maine

A Spitfire flames, Arkansas rain

Again and again, they all joined in

Frazzizco, N’ork, Cabool and Brisbane

Buk with a cluck, Stooge with noodge

Tyler and Skyler and Suffolk’s bug Scrooge

All joined in some with some poetic sploodge…

The Moon and the Son

Guys with big guns

I can’t list them all

From Mary to Shelley

They’re all not too smelly

Now, deep in the mud

In by bright yellow Wellies

They fill up me pipe

ok so i read this book in 7th grade and it was a book that i had to do a book report on and i read the book and it seemed really interesting to me i mean REALLY interesting to me and i dont get into books that much- unless its a lemony snicket book "a series of unfortunate events" but anyways about the book, i dont know what the name of this book is cause i forgot it .lol but i think somewhere in the title was rainy or something it was about this girl and boy who found a connection somewhere in their lives and the girl was involved in this play or something like that -i totally forgot this book- but the girls name im sure was marguerite some like that and the boys name was gilbert i think and there was this part in the book where he had to be somewhere with her and he ended up dying cause of a car accident and if i remember that day in the book it was raining...so please if you have anything about this book the title arthur just tell me ok thanks much !!!!!!

I have used Eddie from Five People You Meet In Heaven and I need pictures to go with each explanation. Any ideas?? These are the 4 stages:

Eddie’s first metamorphosis was guilty. When Eddie died and went to heaven, he met the Blue Man. The Blue Man made Eddie feel guilty stating he caused his death by giving him a heart attack. Eddie ran into the street to get a ball and Blue Man swerved not to hit him, but he felt anxious and had a heart attack.

Eddie’s second metamorphosis was angry. In heaven, Eddie learns that his former Army Captain died after he shot Eddie in the leg to help get out of the fire alive. He was angry because he wanted to save a child he thought he saw in the burning building, but found out the Captain died trying to sacrifice his life to save him and the other soldiers.

Eddie’s third metamorphosis was relieved. He meets up with Ruby in a diner and she is the person who the pier is named after, Ruby’s Pier. Ruby teaches Eddie to let go of his anger he had for his father and explains to him that his father caught pneumonia by saving Mickey’s life instead of killing him for almost hurting his mother. Eddie realized his father was being loyal to his friend and went and told his father everything is okay now.

Eddie’s fourth metamorphosis was blissful. He was walking into different wedding receptions and found his deceased wife, Marguerite. They had a long coversation about love. She explained that even when people die, their love doesn’t and that she loved him even after she died because true love is forever.

I'm not sure what you are needing. Are you looking for already done paintings depicting things like guilt and bliss, but without Eddie in them? Are you planning on drawing pictures yourself and need a scene? Are you looking for some kind of modern art graphics that express certain emotions? Background colors could be black for guilt, red for anger (with orange and yellow flames), aqua for bliss and peach for relief.

Ancestry world version, translate a record?

Clement Dauphinais appears in the World version of ancestry.com, in an 1838 document in Quebec, which appears to name his parents as Francois Dauphinais and ?Marguerite? Cannot make out her last name (Graveline?) or the rest of the text.

I have the image.. but not subscribed to World version, so cannot link here.. But I very much would appreciate someone looking at this, and translating from French, if possible.

This find is totally mind boggling. This link is a brick wall for over 25 yrs, that no one could find. The amazing thing is that I didn't post it, but mentioned it in passing in a reply to another question.. with no expectation. Someone not only saw my comment, but FOUND the record we have wanted, for YEARS. It is amazing, for the fact of how a record or fact can come from unexpected places.

Here's the French version of what I was able to make out, just in case this helps another person's attempt at translation:

Le premier novembre, mil huitcent trent huit, nous [ocure' etoupagne'?] avons baptise' Clement ne' [fuer en?] legitime mariage de Francois Dauphinais et de Marguerite [Beaurdreau?] parrain Marcel Magnan, marraine Marie Lafrenay, [clectres?].

I did use www.freetranslation.com to try to identify each of the non-surname words in brackets above, and used several varieties of what I thought those letters might be, but that's as far as I got...

No-bake cookie recipe?? One that once set looks and tastes like a normal cookie?

Ok, I've given up trying to find this Marguerite Patten recipe we had at our house as kids for chocolate and coconut no-bake cookies. But maybe someone has or knows of something similar. I want a no-bake cookie recipe that is chocolate. But all the ones I find are like chocolate pieces rather than cookies. All the ones I'm finding are "Chocolate and Oatmeal cookies" which don't seem to me to resemble cookies at all. They look like hard chocolate crackles.

Maybe I should just put some coccoa and coconut in a sugar cookie recipe and forget about it :(

No Bake Cookies.

2 cup sugar

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup butter

4 tbls unsweetend cocoa

bring to boil- remove from heat-

add

3 cups quick oats

1/2 tsp vanilla

2/3 cup peanut butter

mix and drop on to foil or wax paper

they are really good we have had this recipe written in a recipe book since i was a little little girl. :)

I have had them before where someone has changed the oatmeal to coconut but i am not sure if it will work the same with this recipe and I don't think that those are good

these are also good make with chunky peanut butter instead of creamy.
Reply:I never knew you could have no bake cookies, is that kind of like rice crispy treats? If So, maybe get a big bowl of Rice Krispies cereal, add little bit of milk, throw in sugar and anything else that you want to get stuck in the goo. 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1/3 cup butter

16 large marshmallows

1/3 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup flaked coconut

2 cups rolled oats

Melt chocolate chips, butter, and marshmallows over low heat. Stir until smooth, and remove from heat. Stir in the peanut butter, vanilla, coconut, and oats. Mix thoroughly. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto waxed paper. (I like to add another step here and flatten them and just put one or two peanut butter chips in the middle) Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, or until set.

African Daisy plant not flowering?

I bought and potted this plant along with two others last weekend. The other two (Gerbera daisies and Marguerite daisies) are growing and flowering well. This plant has not flowered at all and the flowers that were there when I bought it have since dried out and are falling off. What do I need to do for this plant?

Osteospermum bloom, rest, bloom. They like full sun and regular fertilizing (every 2 weeks.) They don't like being crowded - I get the impression you have them in a pot with gerberas and marguerites - prefer being planted in the ground.

Gerberas are perennial in zone 8. Osteos are annual.

If you're trying to get into shape that doesn't exactly mean that your going to loose weight. To get into shape you want to tone muscles or gain them. And to tell you the truth i do not believe that you need to loose any weight. Just do some weight training and maybe start jogging and work your way up to running. Do it as often as you can, and eat carbs before you work out (like pasta).

Really there is only one story which I enjoyed. But boy, did I ever enjoy it. I believe the vignette is called the pupil. There are three breast sucking scenes in this vignette. One is especially nice with the whole teacher-pupil aspect being played out wonderfully.

1. A bélé is a folk song and dance from Dominica, performed most commonly during full moon evenings, or sometimes during funeral wakes (Antillean Creole: lavèyé). It may be the oldest Creole dance from Dominica, and strongly reflects influences from African fertility dances. The term bélé refers to a kind of drum both on Dominica and Martinique.

All bélé are accompanied by an eponymous drum, the tanbou bélé, along with the tingting (triangle) and chakchak (maracas). Bélés start with a lead vocalist, who is followed by the responsorial chorus (lavwa), then a drummer and dancers. Traditional dances revolve around stylized courtship between a male and female dancer, known as the kavalyé (cavalier) and danm (dam) respectively. The bélé song-dances include the bélé soté, bélé priòrité, bélé djouba, bélé contredanse, bélé rickety and bélé pitjé.

On modern Dominica the nature isle of the Caribbean, bélé are primarily performed for holidays and other celebrations, such as Easter, Independence Day, Christmas, Jounen Kwéyòl and patron saint festivals held annually in the Parishes of Dominica, especially in the Fèt St.-Pierre and the Fèt St.-Isidore for fishermen and workers respectively.

The kavalyé and danm take turns dancing. The kavalyé first demonstrates his prowess, then the danm reacts. The kavalyé again courts with the danm, and the both dance in the wildest part of the bélé.

The name bélé may derive from the French belle aire', or the old French aire (meaning threshing platform), or it may derive from an African word.

3. Quadrille is a historic dance performed by four couples in a square formation, a precursor to traditional square dancing. It is also a style of music. A derivative found in the Francophone Lesser Antilles is known in the local Creole as kwadril.

4. La Rose and La Marguerite are societies on the island of Saint Lucia. Ostensibly based around singing the virtues of the rose and marguerite flowers, the societies are intense rivals, and their membership includes most of the population of the island.

The Structure of the Societies

The Roses and the Marguerites are really floral societies into which members of the St. Lucian community divide themselves. Both groups are hierarchically structured with a king and a queen as head of the society and other dignitaries patterned upon the socio-economic structure of colonial society. There are also princes, princesses and other pseudo legal, military and professional personnel, including judges, policemen, nurses, soldiers. The element of role performance or masquerading is evident from this internal structure.

The Festivals

Preparations for the festivals begin several months before the actual feast day. August 30th for the "Roses" and October 17th for the "Marguerites". Each group holds "seances". These consist of all night singing and dancing sessions where drinks are sold and games are played.

The central figure at the "seances" is the "Shatwel" or leadsinger who sustains the spirit and tenor of the entertainment. Most groups have one outstanding "shatwel". They are usually female. On the actual day of the festival all members of the society dress in the finery of their respective roles and march to Church for a service which precedes their parade through the streets before returning to the hall for their feasting or "grande fete"

Today the flower festivals which are unique to St. Lucia assume a preeminent place in the cultural life and history of the country

5. Stick fighting is a generic term for martial arts which utilize simple long slender, blunt, hand-held, generally wooden 'sticks' for fighting such as a staff, cane, walking stick, baton or similar.

Some techniques can also be used with a sturdy umbrella or even a sword in its scabbard, but thicker and/or heavier blunt weapons such as clubs or the mace are outside the scope of 'stick fighting' (since they cannot be wielded with such precision, so sheer force of impact is more important) as are more formed weapons such as the taiaha.

Although many systems are defensive combat techniques, intended for use if attacked whilst lightly armed, others such as kendo (a Japanese discipline using a bamboo 'sword', the shinai) were developed as safe training methods for dangerous weapons. Whatever their history, many lend themselves to being treated as sports.

In addition to martial arts specifically devoted to stick fighting, certain other disciplines include it, either in its own right, as in kung fu (various variations are part of the traditional Chinese weapons), or merely as part of a polyvalent training including other weapons and/or bare hand fighting, e.g. using the Kettukari (staff), Cheruvadi or Muchan (a shorter, also straight stick) and otta (curved stick) in Kerala's Kalarippayattu tradition, where these wooden weapons serve as preliminary training before practice of the more dangerous metal weapons.

6. Hosay or Tadjah is a West Indian street festival, in which multi-colored model mausoleums are paraded, then ritually offered up to the sea, or any body of water. Some contemporary writers equate the multi-colored mausoleums with "mosques." In British Guiana, now Guyana, the festival was called Taziya or creolized into Tadjah in reference to these floats, the most visible and decorative element of this festival. In nineteeenth-century Trinidad newspapers as well as government reports called Hosay the "Coolie Carnival."[1]

The Hosay celebration is a Caribbean manifestation of the Shia Muslim Remembrance of Muharram in Trinidad and Tobago[2] and Jamaica[3] (where is it spelled Hussay). The name Hosay comes from "Husayn" (also spelled "Hussein", the grandson of Muhammad) who was assassinated by Yazid in Karbala. This marytrdom is commemorated in the festival. In Trinidad and Tobago it is primarily celebrated in Saint James, in northwestern Trinidad and in Cedros in southwestern Trinidad. Recently it has been revived elsewhere.

In the 1950s, very elaborately decorated models of mosques made of paper and tinsel called "tadjahs" were carried through the streets to the accompaniment of constant drumming. Small fires were lit in the gutters beside the streets over which the drumskins were heated to tighten the drumskins of the tassa. Mock stick fights celebrate the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali. The festival lasts three days ending with the throwing of the tadjahs into the sea at sunset on the third day. Although Hosay is a religious event for Shias, all of Trinidad's religious and ethnic communities participate in it, and it has become accepted as part of the national culture.

The Remembrance of Muharram was brought to the Caribbean by Shia Muslim indentured labourers and other migrant laborers from India. Hindu and Muslim Indians, who emphasized their common culture and celebration over religion, namely from the provinces of Oudh and City of Lucknow, are essential to this story. These people entered Guyana in 1838, and Trinidad after 1845, from colonial India under British auspices (see Indo-Caribbean people). The first observance of Hosay in Trinidad has been traced back to 1854, eleven years after the first indentured laborers arrived from India.

In the 1880s the British colonial authorities became increasingly concerned about public gatherings, and in 1884 issued an ordinance to prevent the public Hosay commemorations. Thousands of workers, who had spent the year building their tadjahs joined a Hindu named Sookhoo, in petitioning the government to allow the festival per their agreement with the Governor, who was visiting London during this episode. When all appeals were ignored by the Protector of Immigrants, through ignorance of the new July 1884 prohibition, defiance, or both, the tadjahs were taken onto the streets at the appointed time, and in order of the estates. The first estate that took its tadjah onto the street had earned that right over the past months, and in some towns, Hosay went ahead. In Port-of-Spain (St. James) the police did not interfere, but in Mon Repos, San Fernando, on Thursday, October 30, 1884, buckshot was fired into the crowds of women, children and men.. After shots were fired by the police to disperse the procession, 22 "Indians" were killed immediately. Later, 120 were found with injuries, some of whom had run into the cane fields, to hide during the police attack. That day is commonly referred to in Trinidad history as the Muhurram Massacre[4] by Indians and as the Hosay Riots in British and colonial records.

The North Indian city of Lucknow and the Indian State of Oudh are more important than the Middle East in understanding this Trinidad public celebration. The Caribbean East Indian festival, "Hosay" (or "Muhurram") came to the Americas from India in the early nineteenth century. It remained a pan-Indian phenomenon (meaning crossing religious, racial and lingusitic lines). Hosay reached out to also include other Trinidadians, African and Creoles. The origins of Muhurram in Persia (Iran) are important, but in Trinidad, Guyana and Jamaica, the street festival is broader than a Shi'a Muslim (or sectarian) commemoration of the lives and deaths of Islamic prophet Muhammad's grandsons, Hussein and Hasan. The pious shouting out of these names, "Hussein" and "Hasan" allowed the conflation of the Indian names with that of the festival, but provided a direct connection to these role-models for ordinary (and downtrodden) Trinidadians.

In Trinidad, Indian Muslims and Hindus, and African co-workers, joined in the street parade that was open to white spectators also. Many revelers and spectators failed to see the spiritual side of this ten-day observan

Robert Charles is okay. I prefer Charles Robert with Charlie as a nickname.

Marguerite is nice. I like the nicknames Maisie/Meg/Maggie/Daisy/Marit for this name. I don't like Margie at all for a nickname.

Not sure I like Elise as a middle name for Marguerite. Just ok, not great.

Marguerite is an interesting name, but I would consider using it as a middle name because it is severe sounding. Also, I wouldn't use Margie as a nickname, it just seems a little out dated, but you definately wouldnt have to worry about there being another little Margie running around!

I am looking for a movie called Bride 13. This movie was filmed on the famous Good Harbor Beach's Salt Island in Gloucester Massachusetts. I am trying to find out were i can find a copy of it. everyone is seriously looking for it. The actors and actresses in it are Marguerite Clayton, John B. O'Brien, Gretchen Hartman, Arthur Earle, Lyster Chambers, Mary Christensen, Justine Holland, Dorothy Langley, Martha McKay, Helen Johnson. the movie was directed by Richard Stanton. I've done research on the family of August Hartman and he came to the United States with his family as Auguste. All that is, except his father, also named Auguste Hartman. August II came here on La Normandie from LeHavre, France in 1888. Can anyone help me find when his father may have came to New York? He came from Alsace-Lorraine, France which at the time was Elsass-Lotharingen, German Empire. He was born in 1856 which was during France's Second Empire. In case it helps, his family's names were:

Marie/Mary: Wife

André/Andrew: Son

Marguerite/Margaret: Daughter

Joseph: Son

Adolphe/Adolf: Son

Antoine/Anthony: Son

Nicolaus/Nichloas: Son

Peter: Son

Aldophe, Peter, and Nicolaus were all born in Buffalo, Ny. The rest were born in an unknown location in the Alsace and Lorraine (Alsace-Lorraine) region of France. (Or at the time Germany.)

There is an August HARTMAN, a farmer from Germany, who arrived in Steerage on the ship "State of Pennsylvania" on 26 December 1881 in NY. He was born about 1857.

The ship had stopped at Glasgow, Scotland and Larne, Ireland - I don't know when August HARTMAN boarded the ship, though.

There is no more information, but I will contact you privately to see if you want that ship manifest.

If they lived in PA, this may be a clue. In 1883 there was an August HARTMAN who began filing Naturalization Papers. This is just an index and it says no more other than the info. will be on page 45.

Okay, here's the story: Last year, at school, I met the my biggest crush of my life. Marguerite. This summer, I thought I should give up on her so my neighbor [ Her name is Sam] liked me and she was cute and nice, but, I now relize I think I'm not over Marguerite. So I was stuck between them two. Then, I met Sam's best friend, Megan. She was something else. I think she likes me and we hang out alot and share all of our deepest secrets together. I feel more from Marguerite and Meghan when they smile than from Sam when we kiss. I'm not sure if I know wat luv is anymore. Though, I might going to a new school so i may nevr see marguerite again but, i might not trade schools. In the movie Ever After there's a neckless Marguerite gives to the queen telling her she dropped it on her way out it looks like the neckless Danielle (Drew Barrymore) has on at the end after she's married the prince and the queen has found out that the Baroness (Anjelica Huston) has lied to her about stuff, any way is it supposed to be the same neckless the queen had?

Yes, because it represents the passing on of the torch so to speak. You'll notice the prince introduces her as Danielle....my wife ( and queen). that necklace could possible be like when the mother's wedding ring is used for the son to propose to his wife..or mabye just an enagment gift or wedding present from the queen. Perhaps its merely used to rub it in Marguerite's face that she has it, and Marguerite doesn't ( the necklace could be a symbol for the prince's affection.) %26lt;--moved from his mother to his bride, and NOT Marguerite. Reply:I would go with Elizabeth Marguerite to incorporate the special names that have meaning to you. Also, Elizabeth has a lot of different nicknames if you or your child decides they want one. For the boys, I have always been partial to Charles and its not terribly common so I would choose Charles Edward but again, all the names you have selected are good strong masculine names that a boy could be proud of too.

Reply:All of your names are elegant and classic. The only "problem" with Elizabeth is that it lends itself to goofy initials. We decided not to use it as a middle name when it led ot initials like "KEG" and "LEG".

BTW, my Elizabeth is "Lizza" (Liz-ah) - it fit a nickname pattern established by my niece. Folks who can't handle the unusual nickname call her Liz or Elizabeth.

I would say it's probably not worth very much unless it's actually a first edition or it's signed by the author. According to ABE books http://www.abebooks.com/servlet/SearchRe... - where I looked for this book %26amp; this date or before %26amp; hardcover - the most common prices are between $1.60 and $12 and some in the $20 + range, some a bit more. There are three very expensive ones...$125 for a first edition with an A on the copyright page; $149.95 for a first edition, with an A and signed by the author; and $1250 edition that was Frank Capra's first edition copy with an A inside.

Unless you have another copy owned by Frank Capra, I think you're out of luck where that price is concerned. The highest price before these three copies is $60.

You could consult a book appraiser in your area, if you wish. You could also search for a book that is like your own on:

You may get more out of someone by selling it at a live auction or in person than online like eBay. Reply:OK there are several copies of this book, 1947 Hard cover edition, listed on amazon.com for sale for 10-50 dollars. That is what they are listed for it does not mean it will actually sell for that price. the condition would effect the price the most.

But i would recommend protecting it from wear and tear just to be sure.

My Cousin is having a hard time reading the book the Door In The wall by Marguerite de Angeli and I tried reading a part of it and it was sooo boring i fell asleep. He said he tried asking his friends to help him but they couldnt read the book either! the book is literally a sleeping pill to these poor kids! He doesnt understand the book either. The Door In The Wall?
The Door in the Wall is set in medieval England, as plague is sweeping across the country. It refers to a window of opportunity to make something of yourself. The walls are problems the protagonist, Robin, faces in the book, and the doors are the ways he overcomes them.

Here is a synopsis of the story:

Ever since he can remember, Robin, son of Sir John de Bureford, has been told what is expected of him as the son of a nobleman. He must learn the ways of knighthood.

Robin's father has gone off to aid the King in the wars against the Scots. His mother has also left to help the Queen of England who has come down with the plague that is killing millions of people.

Robin was supposed to leave to become one of Sir Lindsay's Paiges. But Robin's destiny is changed in one stroke: He falls ill and loses the use of his legs. Fearing a plague, his servants abandon him and Robin is left alone.

A benevolent monk named Brother Luke rescues Robin and takes him to the hospice of St. Mark's where he is taught woodcarving, reading, writing, singing, playing music, swimming, walking with crutches and--much harder--patience and strength. Says Brother Luke, "Thou hast only to follow the wall far enough and there will be a door in it," a way beyond present obstacles.

Robin soon enough learns what Brother Luke means. Robin gets a letter from his father telling him to go to Sir Lindsay's castle. So Robin, Brother Luke, and a minstrel named John Go-in-the-Wynd set out for the castle. Shortly after arriving at the castle it was besieged by an invading Welsh army. Robin comes up with an ambitious plan to disguise himself as a poor shepherd and run for help.

Robin needed to swim across an icy creek but he made it and managed to get help from Sir Lindsay's brother. Robin snuck back into the Castle and rung the bell which the signal for attack. The army swept into the castle and restored safety and peace to Sir Lindsay. It is Robin, who cannot mount a hourse and ride to battle, who saves the townspeople, became a hero and discovers there is more than one way to serve his king. Robin becomes a page at the end of this novel, and has accomplished his dream. Robin is bewildered by the fact that he is a page, and has found his place in life. Eventually, he was reunited with his parents, who were extremely proud of their son's bravery and strong will.

I love daisies. I just prune dead tissue as needed and cut all the flower tops off, mulch, water monthly and wait for spring. During the growing season, dead heading them makes them produce more flowers. Good luck.

I am looking for the name of two episodes of this series.

Here are some clues.

The first one is when Marguerite, Roxton and Malone find a woman in red dead. Then, they try to run from a storm and shelter in an abandoned mansion or castle and dressed in costumes from a spell that Marugurite maybe read on a necklace while she was in a bathtub. Challenger saved them by breaking the spell and at the end, everyone except Challenger were naked.

The Second one is Marguerite goes into a cave where there is purple hallucinogenic gases. Marguerite wanted to go on a picnic, but her colleagues refused. There were jungle men turned into jelly. Veronica and Malone fought with skeletons. They found roxton in the cave breathing those purple hallucinogenic gases. Challenger bombs the cave. At the end, Marguerite says she didn’t say she wanted to on a picnic.

If anyone can help me, I will be appreciated!!

The movie and novel versions of The Five People You Meet in Heaven create one body. In that way, they are the same. They both have the major skeletal system that holds the story together, but the smaller systems, or details, are very different. Although they are one body, one overpowers the other with its use of imager, details, and feelings. Showing instead of telling, the novel made the story come alive and the movie broght it out on screen. It seems like the charachters in the novel were brought to life and werw used as the cast in the movie. Albom described Eddie as "a squat, white-haired old man, with a short neck, a barrel chest, thick forearms, and a faded army tattoo on his right shoulder," which is exactly how the movie depicted Eddie. Also, the movie and novel versions of Marguerite were twins. Even deeper than appearance, the personality and characteristics of the character matched beautifully. those are my two first paragraphs and one sentece of the third...

Have you watched the movie the scarlet pimpernel?
This is my all-time favorite movie!

The note that Andrew threw into the fireplace was about the rendezvous with Percy at midnight in the Library.

To me the most realistic scenes are many of the ones between Percy and Marguerite. They had such chemistry onscreen, it made their love for each other seem very real.

However, the scene where he comes up behind her in the Library and she didn't recognize him didn't ring true. I think she would have known it was him right away.

I was surprised that she held her tounge and found it amusing when she would say "wow, look at that, that sure is pretty" and he would just sigh....I think he's using the show to air his views and not to try to learn anything. He is stuck in his mindset and noone or nothing is going to change that. He had some good points although he would drive me up the wall. That was all he talked about, all they aired anyway. I think her friends are a little clueless as to how hard it is to just come back to New Orleans and rebuild. I feel that blacks do have it harder here in the U.S. They have to work harder to get what they want. But to shout out statistics about how many are in prisons and unemployed, who's fault is that? Can we just blame everything on the white man? Do you see Jewish people blaming all their problems on Hitler? I think almose every race was enslaved at one time or another. Reply:my wife and I are fans of the show, it usually has a good mix up and in the long run both wives see a new world thru someone else's eyes. Marguerite was on before and if you seen that episode you would remember her as a crazed, wide-eyed, so-called "God Warrior"...basically...she was a nut...but last night I think she redeemed herself and did a great job of holding her tongue.

I know that black people went thru hell in the 1700's and 1800's and in some places even deep into the 1900's. Regardless, this is the 21st century and blacks can be as prominent as their desires take them.

I am not naive to the point of thinking that all blacks are given the extreme equal chance, but the lack of equality goes beyond skin color. I have been in position to advance only to have someone else get the job due to a relationship rather than honest, earned advancement....so it happens everywhere and on different size scales.

Its a fairly old book I think first printed in the 60s, but she is a famous cook and her books are used around the world so its a pretty standard household edition in many countries.

Anyway my point is, if anyone has it, would you mind checking under cookies or biscuits and finding this recipe for chocolate biscuits that you dont bake, that you set in the fridge. Maybe if I remember right iyou made it into a roll and then sliced them into cookies?

Anyway I remember my Mum making them as a kid and I remember the cook book so well (thats why I remember the title) but she has since thrown it out because it got all tatty, and I miss those cookies!!!

no-bake chocolate biscuit cake with dried cherries

Servings: Serves 12.

Ingredients

10 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, chopped

10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter

1/4 cup whipping cream

2 tablespoons Lyle's Golden Syrup or mild-flavored (light) molasses

1 7.5-ounce package Le Petit Beurre lightly toasted butter biscuits, coarsely chopped

1 cup chopped walnuts

1/3 cup raisins

1/3 cup dried tart cherries

Preparation

Line 9 x 5 x 2-inch metal loaf pan with plastic wrap. Stir chocolate and butter in heavy large saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth. Mix in cream and golden syrup. Remove from heat. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour chocolate mixture into prepared pan. Smooth top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until set, at least 3 hours or overnight. (Cake can be prepared up to 3 days ahead. Keep refrigerated.)

Uncover pan. Place platter on pan. Invert cake onto platter. Peel off plastic wrap. Cut cake into slices and serve.

Reply:Okay, everyone told you how much they liked your poem, so I guess I get to be the bad guy and tell you the parts that might benefit from editing. here goes...

"It came upon..." Why "it"? what is "it"? You could make this poem seem more fanciful and original if you said, "Once upon a same time"...consider it. Also, I'd recommend putting "the man truly understood" in parenthesis...that way it shows why it doesn't form part of the existing sentence structure. Another option would be dashes "--", but parenthesis would be more conventional.

Your second stanza starts out on the wrong foot. You might try changing the order of lines so they read,

Open to share emotion

Funny and thoughtful was he

A man of calm commotion (use "A" instead of "the")

Brave enough for poetry

In the last stanza, consider that your third line must read well from the first, because the second line is an interjection. For example, the following should make sense and read naturally:

"A happenstance connection entered my soul reflection" but it doesn't seem natural to me. If you'd said:

"A happenstance connection brightened my soul's reflection", okay, fine, looks good...you need to make it "soul's" anyway. If you meant that this connection, or that this person "entered your soul's reflection", then you need to reword the line...or you need to say that "By a happenstance connection, he entered my soul's reflection". Then as a final line, "the man with...", you might want to say, "This man with..."

The young teen Chris LaBonty was illegally driving and racing his fathers Bmw 335i against two other anonymous drivers on 4-24-08 at 11:32 PM on Marguerite in Mission Viejo.. "He was not wearing his seat belt upon impact with the Audi A4", say the authorities. When his car's tires lost traction and the car spun out of control and made impact with one of the other racers audi a4's. His body was thrown from the car through the windshield. His mom said he got baptized a week before and is in a better place now.
