Any opinions on National City Bank in Springfield, IL?
You cannot be serious. I was actually suprised to see that you didn't post your debit card number and expiration date as well. This is definately not the right place to be asking to have a stop payment on a debit card transaction. I think you would be better served by contacting your bank, probably at the phone number on the back of you debit card.

Would Noah's kid's wives prefer to be on Wife Swap or Trading Spouses?

Would Noah's kid's wives prefer to be on Wife Swap or Trading Spouses?
Aren't those wife swap TV shows populated with people who are totally nuts?

If I was Noah, I'd want a Mythbuster kind of wife. A cool chick who can approach things with a level-headed science kind of mind, and with an appreciation for explosions.

Which name?

Charlotte

Marguerite

Raine

Soleil

No other suggestions please.

Which name?
raine
Reply:Raine..That is so beautiful!
Reply:charlotte
Reply:Charlotte and Soleil
Reply:i personally like the name soleil. good luck and god bless.
Reply:I like Raine; it's kind of spunky and unique. Not to offend you at all, but isn't Soleil a boy's name? Are you putting out girls and boys names, or is this a girl's name as well? They're all pretty, but I'm voting for Raine.

Oh, right. I took French a while back, I should know that. Ok, well, yes, that's pretty too. I like them all. Thanks for the update and good luck with the baby (I'm assuming?)!
Reply:Charlotte or Raine
Reply:Raine , It sounds peaceful and unique!! Charlotte sounds too country -ish/cowboy-ish.
Reply:I like Raine....But spelled Rayne.
Reply:Raine is an awesome name!

Soleil...is that a boy's name?

Marguerite, I think she would get teased.

Charlotte is cute
Reply:Charlotte
Reply:I like Soleil
Reply:CHARLOTTE, FOR THE FIRST NAME.

RAINE, FOR THE MIDDLE NAME.
Reply:Soleil is a good name....
Reply:Charlotte
Reply:Personally, I would go with Soleil. It is different yet eccentric. Plus, it means sun in French so I bet it would be a bright child! That is what I would name my child.
Reply:I really like the name Raine. It is unique and seldom heard.

It has a sort of unique sophistication about it.

What do you think about these names?

girl- Anjanette Marguerite (a combination of my cousins first and my middle)

boy- Giovanni Adrian or Adrian Giovanni (meaning Gods gracious gift)

What do you think about these names?
The girl's name is definitely unique and it flows. It's very pretty.

The boy's name, I'd go with Adrian Giovanni. I said it to myself in Spanish and it sounded great.

Good luck.
Reply:I love the use of family names and names that have meaning. I like them both, but for the boy, Adrian Giovanni has a nicer sound, but I'm in the states, for Spain, I don't know, I might go with Giovanni Adrian. Just depends on what you want to call him.
Reply:both of them are

SUPER unique..

in a good way of course

i like the name Adrian...go 4 tat 1~
Reply:Not bad - not what I would choose for a girl though.

I would have to go with Adrian Giovanni
Reply:I USA, I wouldn't name someone Anjanette. I would name her Anja. But I think your version of the name works better for your children if they are raised Spain.

I love Giovanni. No one names their baby Giovanni in the USA. But it's such a melodious, harmonically pleasing name.

Giovanni Adrian it is! I LOVE the meaning. In English, Jonathan means gift of God. I gave that name to the little one who was only with us 17 weeks. He was a gift.

TX Mom
Reply:i dont really like the girls name but i like adrian giovanni a lot
Reply:Anjanette Marguerite - i don't like that and i live in Spain and never heard of it, so it could be good as its not common i guess.

love Adrian Giovanni that is so masculine
Reply:Giovanni, and Adrian are extremely lovely names, but Adrian Giovanni has a better catch and fllow to it. though, in my personal opinion, "Anjanette" is a bit unique for spain. however, if you're looking for a name that's one in a million, that's a great name for a girl :]
Reply:I like the girls name a lot. I would call her Etta for short if it fit her. I like Marguerite a lot with it
Reply:I like the girl's name. It's unique.

For the boy I'd go with Adrian Giovanni. It flows better.

I thought Giovanni was Italian...
Reply:they're both really nice. the girls name is unique, so thats good. its better than knowing a handful of amandas and ashely's

giovanni adrian sounds nicer to me :)
Reply:Adrian Giovanni is okay. I don't really like the others.

A question for anyone who watches the whole seasons of "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World"? 1999-2002

I am looking for the name of two episodes of this series.

Here are some clues.

The first one is when Marguerite, Roxton and Malone find a woman in red dead. Then, they try to run from a storm and shelter in an abandoned mansion or castle and dressed in costumes from a spell that Marugurite maybe read on a necklace while she was in a bathtub. Challenger saved them by breaking the spell and at the end, everyone except Challenger were naked.

The Second one is Marguerite goes into a cave where there is purple hallucinogenic gases. Marguerite wanted to go on a picnic, but her colleagues refused. There were jungle men turned into jelly. Veronica and Malone fought with skeletons. They found roxton in the cave breathing those purple hallucinogenic gases. Challenger bombs the cave. At the end, Marguerite says she didn’t say she wanted to on a picnic.

If anyone can help me, I will be appreciated!!

This hsow was aired in 1999-2002.

The first one was "Stone Cold" from season 2. The second one might be "Skin Deep" from season 2, but I can't be sure. You can read episode summaries to see if any seem familiar.

How does this sound?? i'll take any kind of critisism!!! essay...?

The movie and novel versions of The Five People You Meet in Heaven create one body. In that way, they are the same. They both have the major skeletal system that holds the story together, but the smaller systems, or details, are very different. Although they are one body, one overpowers the other with its use of imager, details, and feelings. Showing instead of telling, the novel made the story come alive and the movie broght it out on screen. It seems like the charachters in the novel were brought to life and werw used as the cast in the movie. Albom described Eddie as "a squat, white-haired old man, with a short neck, a barrel chest, thick forearms, and a faded army tattoo on his right shoulder," which is exactly how the movie depicted Eddie. Also, the movie and novel versions of Marguerite were twins. Even deeper than appearance, the personality and characteristics of the character matched beautifully. those are my two first paragraphs and one sentece of the third...

How does this sound?? i'll take any kind of critisism!!! essay...?
Excellent start. You are talking about similarities between the book and the movie.

After that, you need to talk about the smaller details that differ, and examples of how "one overpowers the other with use of imagery, details, and feelings."
Reply:pretty good....u just have 2 check ur spelling...

How can I make her love me?

Her name is Marguerite. She is the most beautiful girl on earth. I'll love her forever and I told in a note that took me 4 hours to write. I creep her out because of some rumors she heard but I want to prove Im not a bad guy. She won't talk to me unless I stop her in the hall. Please help me before I kill myself. I cant stand my feelings!

How can I make her love me?
Calm down and breathe! First of all, you cannot make anyone love you. Try and get her to agree to talking to you after school. If she agrees, tell her how you feel and ask her if she will give you a chance to prove yourself. Don't write anymore notes. Try poetry instead. Good Luck!
Reply:,you can't make any one love you....you can show her love and don't push her....send her a e-http://www.passionup.com/mail it's free..you'll like it all kinds of cards
Reply:You can't MAKE her do or feel anything. What you CAN do is be her friend %26amp; show her what a good buy you are (hopefully). If she starts thinking about you as a nice guy, then maybe she will some day see you as a good BOYFRIEND.

PS- if you become friends, you may get to know her %26amp; realise that she is NOT as great as you 1st thought (lucky break)
Reply:You cant make her love you. First you have to take care of the rumors. Then talk to her in the hall and find out her take on the rumors. after that if she still says no drop it and move on before you do, do something
Reply:you can't make her love you,she has to want to fall in love with you.good luck
Reply:It is imposable to make some one fall In love. All you can do is be your self, have confidence in who you are, and show her what you have to offer.

If still no response. Find some one else that is attracted to your quality's.
Reply:Don't kill urself, it's a stupid thing to do. Try to win her heart explain that u're not the guy that they talked about in the rumors one day and ask her if she wanna go see a movie and give u a chance.

Good luck♥

Have you watched the movie the scarlet pimpernel?

1.)What did the 1st note say when marguerite read it.( the one when the man threw it in the fire place. and she picked it up)

2.)and then can someone tell me which scene seemed the most realistic and which one was non-realistic???

thanx yahoo answers

Have you watched the movie the scarlet pimpernel?
This is my all-time favorite movie!

The note that Andrew threw into the fireplace was about the rendezvous with Percy at midnight in the Library.

To me the most realistic scenes are many of the ones between Percy and Marguerite. They had such chemistry onscreen, it made their love for each other seem very real.

However, the scene where he comes up behind her in the Library and she didn't recognize him didn't ring true. I think she would have known it was him right away.

A Poem - The Assistant - Do You Like?
Beautiful, as the lady herself.
Reply:Marguerite, this is great. I love the way it begins with "smiles lit and started a past" what a great way to set the scene where we get a brief look at budding love. Equally, the last line, "a marriage uncompromised", is a great way to conclude the poem. Lovely work.
Reply:With adroitness of thinking, and penning, you have mastered the 'Assistant'. Uniqueness, originality...for an otherwise common occurence....in someone else's writing, this would have become 'common' and ordinary.

Oh good! Gooder and goodest!!!
Reply:I think it is fine. Yes this is DP. I am sorry for everything. Please forgive me. I have reconciled with my wife and I miss our conversations. Please un block me. PLease.
Reply:An absolute treasure. Like a marriage uncompromised!
Reply:Great lines like: she answered with pure New York, with eyes at half mast and accents blended as did hearts. Well penned. My compliments.
Reply:A lovely poetic story and a memory to treasure.
Reply:Do not throw this one away!

It deserves a place hanging in the Martian Communal Dome, in a gold frame.
Reply:sappy, but nice!

Who saw "Trading Spouses" on FOX last night & what did you think of it?

Who saw the show %26amp; what do you think about it? Do you agree with Abasi's extreme views? Do you agree that Marguerite did a great job of holding her tongue for as long as she did?

Who saw "Trading Spouses" on FOX last night %26amp; what did you think of it?
I was surprised that she held her tounge and found it amusing when she would say "wow, look at that, that sure is pretty" and he would just sigh....I think he's using the show to air his views and not to try to learn anything. He is stuck in his mindset and noone or nothing is going to change that. He had some good points although he would drive me up the wall. That was all he talked about, all they aired anyway. I think her friends are a little clueless as to how hard it is to just come back to New Orleans and rebuild. I feel that blacks do have it harder here in the U.S. They have to work harder to get what they want. But to shout out statistics about how many are in prisons and unemployed, who's fault is that? Can we just blame everything on the white man? Do you see Jewish people blaming all their problems on Hitler? I think almose every race was enslaved at one time or another. As long as you keep focussing on what you don't have, why you don't have it and who's keeping you from having it then you'll never get ahead. Do you think Oprah, Condoleeza or all of the successfull actors, politicians, doctors, lawyers, athletes, musicians..etc.....of color sit back and complain how they've been mistreated? No, because they get off their asses and do something about it. They work, go to school, get an education and show the white man that they have a right just as any other person to Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I would tell him to never forget where he came from but learn forgiveness because without it he'll never move ahead to bigger and better things. Peace
Reply:dang, was that the one with that religious woman, I missed that.
Reply:my wife and I are fans of the show, it usually has a good mix up and in the long run both wives see a new world thru someone else's eyes. Marguerite was on before and if you seen that episode you would remember her as a crazed, wide-eyed, so-called "God Warrior"...basically...she was a nut...but last night I think she redeemed herself and did a great job of holding her tongue.

Abasi...whew..I am not sure what to say there except that someone, a state official, needs to get that little girl out of that house..Shaka doesn't need to grow up with those outdated ideas. I know that black people went thru hell in the 1700's and 1800's and in some places even deep into the 1900's. Regardless, this is the 21st century and blacks can be as prominent as their desires take them.

I am not naive to the point of thinking that all blacks are given the extreme equal chance, but the lack of equality goes beyond skin color. I have been in position to advance only to have someone else get the job due to a relationship rather than honest, earned advancement....so it happens everywhere and on different size scales.

Marguerite exercised great restraint!

(very good question!)
Reply:like a volcano you just knew she was going to erupt.that black power dude didn't help his cause too much. I'm waiting for a spin off where domestic violence starts and they have to call in the show "cops"
Reply:idk it was stupid almost as stupid as the first one

Does anybody have that cookbook "step-by-step cookery" by Marguerite Patten?

Its a fairly old book I think first printed in the 60s, but she is a famous cook and her books are used around the world so its a pretty standard household edition in many countries.

Anyway my point is, if anyone has it, would you mind checking under cookies or biscuits and finding this recipe for chocolate biscuits that you dont bake, that you set in the fridge. Maybe if I remember right iyou made it into a roll and then sliced them into cookies?

Anyway I remember my Mum making them as a kid and I remember the cook book so well (thats why I remember the title) but she has since thrown it out because it got all tatty, and I miss those cookies!!!

Thanks soooooooooooooooooo much for obliging me if you have the book and a big MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!

A Poem By Marguerite?

It came upon the same time

In a distant neighborhood

Lived a man of honest rhyme

The man truly understood

Funny and thoughtful was he

Open to share emotion

Brave enough for poetry

The man of calm commotion

A happenstance connection

From a melody of tones

Entered my soul reflection

The man with dinosaur bones

A Poem By Marguerite?
Well done Marguerite. Much better thought out, much easier to read, much more sense. As other people said here, it is a very nice poem.

I hope others who wish to post their efforts here take note that you are putting big effort into improving your poems and so should they.

Take care, Jim

PS Jut one thought...should it no be possessive, 'my soul'S reflection'?
Reply:Yes you ARE improving (good for you), and nice job Superdog, too. Report It

Reply:lemme get this straight....so you like cave men;) Report It

Reply:This was a very smooth read Marguerite. It was good poem in content, and technically it was good.

Thanks for sharing it.
Reply:Very nice Marguerite!!

You have a flair for poetry, even the last one was good..

Keep writing_ !!!
Reply:its an awesome poem i adore it
Reply:Okay, everyone told you how much they liked your poem, so I guess I get to be the bad guy and tell you the parts that might benefit from editing. here goes...

"It came upon..." Why "it"? what is "it"? You could make this poem seem more fanciful and original if you said, "Once upon a same time"...consider it. Also, I'd recommend putting "the man truly understood" in parenthesis...that way it shows why it doesn't form part of the existing sentence structure. Another option would be dashes "--", but parenthesis would be more conventional.

Your second stanza starts out on the wrong foot. You might try changing the order of lines so they read,

Open to share emotion

Funny and thoughtful was he

A man of calm commotion (use "A" instead of "the")

Brave enough for poetry

In the last stanza, consider that your third line must read well from the first, because the second line is an interjection. For example, the following should make sense and read naturally:

"A happenstance connection entered my soul reflection" but it doesn't seem natural to me. If you'd said:

"A happenstance connection brightened my soul's reflection", okay, fine, looks good...you need to make it "soul's" anyway. If you meant that this connection, or that this person "entered your soul's reflection", then you need to reword the line...or you need to say that "By a happenstance connection, he entered my soul's reflection". Then as a final line, "the man with...", you might want to say, "This man with..."

good poem, hope my suggestions help make it better.

keep writing
Reply:I like it. It has a theme and rhythm which I have always looked for in poetry. Good luck.
Reply:I love this. Are you going to tell us who this is about? Is he still single?

Reply:I enjoyed your poem - so thank you for sharing it.

Was he wearing a seatbelt?

The young teen Chris LaBonty was illegally driving and racing his fathers Bmw 335i against two other anonymous drivers on 4-24-08 at 11:32 PM on Marguerite in Mission Viejo.. "He was not wearing his seat belt upon impact with the Audi A4", say the authorities. When his car's tires lost traction and the car spun out of control and made impact with one of the other racers audi a4's. His body was thrown from the car through the windshield. His mom said he got baptized a week before and is in a better place now.

What do you think of these names?

Lynn Gisela d'Artois

Lynn Marguerite d'Artois

Lynn Sikelgaita d'Artois

Which is your favorite? How do they sound? If you have an idea for a middle name, please post. Nothing common like Elizabeth or Marie though. d'Artois is also spelled de Artois so which is the better spelling? Thanks.

What do you think of these names?
I like Lynn Gisela d'Artois (but if you can drop the d' that would be nice). I think Lynn Eleanor sounds good too. You might also like Aveline, Malaya, or Seliah.
Reply:They seem forced to me, like they are trying too hard to be unique. I wouldn't want anything so complicated, but it in the end it is totally up to you.
Reply:I don't like any of them.
Reply:I like the first one best! Or you can switch it up and it can be Lynn Giselle d'Artois?

What ya think?
Reply:Lynn Marguerite Artois IS great!!

i would love that name

by they way they sound great for a babys name
Reply:i like Lynn Gisela and Lynn Marguerite the best. i have no clue how you would pronounce Sikelgaita. but i think i like Marguerite the best. its very classy and girly
Reply:I like the 2nd one.
Reply:All very different names, but personally... I don't like any of them.

You shouldn't leave it to complete strangers to help pick out a name for your child. If you like the names, go with it and be confident in the one you choose.

Good luck :D
Reply:I like the first name but Lynn is so old fashioned why not Gisela Lynn? or Gisela Marguerite?
Reply:I don't like those name at all - sorry.
Reply:I can't even pronounce them, except for Lynn!
Reply:like Lynn Gisela the best. Don't care for Eleanor name. Colby is a name and not just cheese.
Reply:I like Lynn Eleanor or Lynn Marguerite
Reply:i think Gisela is the perfect middle name- it complements Lynn better than you know! also, once she grows up, her friends will die of jealousy that her middle name is so pretty, because all of their middle names will be "grace" or "paige" or something equally boring. your choices are great!
Reply:I like Lynn but nothing past that. Your daughter is going to have a heck of a time learning how to spell those names and kids will probably give her a hard time.

You can pick out a unique name that isn't spelled like the alphabet threw up all over her name. Especially with the comma. There should be a law against commas in names.
Reply:hey my middle name is marie but i like the second one it sounds pretty
Reply:OK then. I hate all those names. They sound like a Mexican Restaurant I eat at. By the way, I eat Colby cheese there too.

How is The Five People you meet in heaven compare to It's a wonderful life?

Marguerite and eddie vs. George and Mary

How is The Five People you meet in heaven compare to It's a wonderful life?
What the dickens are you referring to?. What five people in heaven, and who put this concept in your head?. You will meet everyone in heaven!
Reply:There is a bit of a difference between "It's A Wonderful Life" and "The Five People You Meet In Heaven". George see what life would have been like without him, while Eddie meets five people who had something to do with his life whether he met them or not, and these people explained his life to him. The deeper concept in "The Five People You Meet In Heaven" is redemption. Eddie thinks he wasted his life at the amusement park when it is revealed to him by the Japanese girl he unknowing killed in the war that he kept children safe and that made up for her death. Compared to George and Mary's marriage, Eddie and Marguerite's was tragic and ended with Marguerite's untimely death. The "Five People You Meet In Heaven" was a terrific novel which made you think while "It's A Wonderful Life" is a classic with a happy ending.

What do you think of this name for a girl?
It's LOVELY!

I am 100% honest. I'm assuming that Fuller is the surname. Anyways, Evelyn and Marguerite are both beautiful and feminine classics! It's really hard to find such a classic and lovely name in a world of trendy Madisons and Jaydens.

btw i love the 1st book!
Reply:depends on the condition, the age, and if they have any collector value. i never heard of any of them, so for all i know maybe you'd have a hard time getting fifty cents apiece for them. but just because i never heard of them doesn't mean someone else might not pay top dollar for them.

i suggest that you google search bookseller sites, then see if any or all your books are there. and, if so, the price being asked.

another way would be simply to list them on ebay for a penny with no reserve, and let the market demand set the final price. just be sure to add enough for shipping to cover your mailing cost.

To me,

"Quand Faust but le poison, il voulut voir Marguerite."

and

"Quand Faust buvait le poison, il voulut voir Marguerite."

would be translated by "as" or "while" in the English sentence.

Also, we can use "voulait" because "to want" is one of the verbs that usually don't accept progressive form (they're performative or something like that).

Note that my mother language is French, and what I say about English shouldn't be considered as much reliable.

There is a great hardy shrub i don't know the Latin for it but is called a fire bush. you could probably find more info on the net but ithink it should be suited to the weather in spain.

Improve a flower?

I'd improve the fragrance of marguerite daisies. They're great plants but they smell like unwashed socks!

Improve a flower?
get right on it, you'll make a million

For those who have read the book " I know why the caged bird sings" by maya angelou?

what ten items do you think marguerite would save as mementos?

For those who have read the book " I know why the caged bird sings" by maya angelou?
I think you just asked for too much here. There are so many posters willing to help, but the whole assignment? I don't think so. Most of us are willing to help when we see even faint signs of actual work. Next time you need help, get yourself a running start...do some work, develop your questions and ask for help. I think you'll get some.
Reply:I agree with Margot, but perhaps you should explore a bit why Maya Angelou wrote and the abuse she wrote from to find the things she valued most.
Reply:She'd definitely save the caged bird, though I didn't read it actually!

Name at least 1 Reformation Leader and/or Influencer?

Other than: Martin Luther, John, Calvin, Henry VIII, Elixabeth I, Johann Guttenberg, Marguerite of Navarre.

This is a class assignment. I am not allowed to use any of those people.

If you happen to know of any please feel free to help out. Thanks for your time.

Name at least 1 Reformation Leader and/or Influencer?
Ulrich Zwingli; a Swiss reformer. Or you could try Jan Hus, a reformer from Bohemia who was burnt at the stake for his beliefs.
Reply:William Tyndale; translated the New Testament into english from the greek. Burned at the stake for heresy before he could finish translating the Old Testament. The King James Bible is for the most part a copy of Tyndale's translation. Had as large an impact on the shaping of the english language as Shakespeare.
Reply:Try John Knox from Scotland.
Reply:You have John written above with no last name. Do you mean John Knox?

If he's one that you meant to write, how about James Arminius. He is a 17th century reformer who broke away from Calvinist doctrine. He was a contemporary and friend of William Laud, Archbishop of Canterbury during the reign of Charles I of England. Unlike the Calvinists who believed that your fate was predestined prior to birth, Arminius and his followers wanted to bring free-will back into the equation.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - society changing?

I've read the book, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings". I'm trying to find ways in which society around Marguerite was changing. I'm having a lot of trouble.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings - society changing?
Racism and Segregation

Maya confronts the insidious effects of racism and segregation in America at a very young age. She internalizes the idea that blond hair is beautiful and that she is a fat black girl trapped in a nightmare. Stamps, Arkansas, is so thoroughly segregated that as a child Maya does not quite believe that white people exist. As Maya gets older, she is confronted by more overt and personal incidents of racism, such as a white speaker’s condescending address at her eighth-grade graduation, her white boss’s insistence on calling her Mary, and a white dentist’s refusal to treat her. The importance of Joe Louis’s world championship boxing match to the black community reveals the dearth of publicly recognized African American heroes. It also demonstrates the desperate nature of the black community’s hope for vindication through the athletic triumph of one man. These unjust social realities confine and demean Maya and her relatives. She comes to learn how the pressures of living in a thoroughly racist society have profoundly shaped the character of her family members, and she strives to surmount them.

Debilitating Displacement

Maya is shuttled around to seven different homes between the ages of three and sixteen: from California to Stamps to St. Louis to Stamps to Los Angeles to Oakland to San Francisco to Los Angeles to San Francisco. As expressed in the poem she tries to recite on Easter, the statement “I didn’t come to stay” becomes her shield against the cold reality of her rootlessness. Besieged by the “tripartite crossfire” of racism, sexism, and power, young Maya is belittled and degraded at every turn, making her unable to put down her shield and feel comfortable staying in one place. When she is thirteen and moves to San Francisco with her mother, Bailey, and Daddy Clidell, she feels that she belongs somewhere for the first time. Maya identifies with the city as a town full of displaced people.

Maya’s personal displacement echoes the larger societal forces that displaced blacks all across the country. She realizes that thousands of other terrified black children made the same journey as she and Bailey, traveling on their own to newly affluent parents in northern cities, or back to southern towns when the North failed to supply the economic prosperity it had promised. African Americans descended from slaves who were displaced from their homes and homelands in Africa, and following the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862, blacks continued to struggle to find their place in a country still hostile to their heritage.

Have you read the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven?

I read this book as a sophomore in high school and I don't remember the 5th lesson! I remember the first four - with the Blue Man, the Captain, Marguerite, and Ruby. I know the fifth person was Tala, a little girl. But the lesson escapes me. For example, Ruby teaches Eddie he needs to learn to forgive. What was that fifth lesson? Thanks so much! :)

Have you read the book The Five People You Meet in Heaven?
Tala taught him to forgive himself and others, especially for things over which he had no control. By cleansing her from the burnt skin, he was also purifying himself and washing away the old scars from his past.

In a sense, she was a psychopomp (a guide to the other realm in Jungian psychology) who led him through death into eternal life. She was also a kind of mirror image since she, too, had suffered unjustly from things that were done to her. By 'healing' her at the river, he also healed himself.
Reply:i read it but i didnt think there was a lesson from tala? he helped her get rid of her scars by washing her with the rock. i remember when i was reading it i didnt see a clear lesson. but good luck!
Reply:i agree with Linda..... she was there to help you to forgive and move on.....
Reply:Was it forgiveness or maybe letting go? Wasn't she the little girl who got burned to death in the village they torched? The one he kept seeing out of the corner of his eye and felt guilty about?

Great book by the way!

Could someone help me interpret this quote?

I am writing an essay about wasting time being a good thing. The quote I want to use is "the best way to fill time is to waste it" by Marguerite Duras. Does this sound like an appropriate quote? What do you think it means?

Thanks to anyone who contributes :)

Could someone help me interpret this quote?
I like the quote you chose because I am a nurse/single mother who understands the rush rush rush of daily life.

People should just take time to waste time when at all possible.

Here is a website and some more quotes that basically say the same thing you are saying with this quote.

http://brightquotes.com/tim_fr.html

There is never enough time to do all the nothing you want.

- Bill Watterson

Procrastination is like a credit card; it's a lot of fun until you get the bill.

- Christopher Parker

I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

- Douglas Adams

THE VALUE OF TIME

%26gt;To realize the value of one year:

- Ask a student who has failed a final exam.

To realize the value of one month:

- Ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.

To realize the value of one week:

- Ask an editor of a weekly newspaper

To realize the value of one hour:

- Ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.

To realize the value of one minute:

- Ask a person who has missed the train, bus or plane.

To realize the value of one second:

- Ask a person who has survived an accident.

To realize the value of one millisecond:

- Ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Time waits for no one and we are all given the same amount. Spend it with those you care for in a setting you love. Treasure every moment.
Reply:"Time is never wasted, when you're wasted all the time." :D
Reply:I think it is a good quote because I think wasting time is like having fun (not that its a bad thing). I think it means that if you have fun or if you're doing something and time flies is wasting time, but yet its the best way to fill the time.

*Good luck with the essay*
Reply:If you've read the whole essay, what she's saying is pretty complicated.

First, though, when she speaks of wasting time, she's talking very specifically about hanging around, waiting for something to happen. She's not talking about goofing off and having fun. She illustrates by referencing, "...all the young people hanging around outside churches and public places..."

So the quote is only appropriate if that's the sense you have of wasting time.

And to her it's a little frightening, but it's *less* frightening than people shugging off to work as drones lost in the masses, "just so as to stay alive."

If you haven't read it, read the whole essay, and some others by her. She can be difficult to get a handle on, because her writing is very accessible (in translation) but her ideas are complicated tangles of emotion, ideology, philosophy, politics, everyday life, and more.

What was Maya Angelo's poem called "I know why the caged bird sings" is about?

Maya Angelou born1928 has had a great variety of experiences: she toured twenty-two nations as a dancer, worked on a newspaper in Egypt, lectured at the University of Ghana in western Africa, and directed a film in hollywood. She has written poetry, fiction, and plays.Born Maguerite Johnson,Angelou and her brother Bailey, were raised by their grandmother Annie Henderson(whom they called Momma) the owner of a general store in the black area of Stamps, Arkansas. The following excerpt from her autobiography covers the time when Marguerite is about ten years old. Unusually bright but painfully self-conscious, she has become withdrawn and refuses to speak to anyone.

What was Maya Angelo's poem called "I know why the caged bird sings" is about?
Hooray C.J.!!!

"I Know Why the Caged bird Sings" is Ms. Maya Angelou's autobiography. She took the title from Mr. Paul Lawrence Dunbar's poem "Sympathy."

Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906)

Sympathy

I KNOW what the caged bird feels, alas!

When the sun is bright on the upland slopes;

When the wind stirs soft through the springing grass,

And the river flows like a stream of glass;

When the first bird sings and the first bud opes,

And the faint perfume from its chalice steals —

I know what the caged bird feels!

I know why the caged bird beats his wing

Till its blood is red on the cruel bars;

For he must fly back to his perch and cling

When he fain would be on the bough a-swing;

And a pain still throbs in the old, old scars

And they pulse again with a keener sting —

I know why he beats his wing!

I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,

When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,—

When he beats his bars and he would be free;

It is not a carol of joy or glee,

But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,

But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings —

I know why the caged bird sings!

"Sympathy" was originally published in "Lyrics of the Hearthside" by Dodd, Mead and Company in 1899. This poem has passed out of copyright and can be found on the Gutenberg website.
Reply:She wrote a memoir titled I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, not a poem. It's, as you stated above, about her young life. Everything from religion to punishments to a young pregnancy.
Reply:the poem is about living the life you're in, singing right out loud, no matter whether you will be ever be free. the free bird may not ever have the depth of character of the caged bird. the caged bird may better understand and appreciate the gift of freedom that the free bird takes for granted.
Reply:Maya Angelou didn't write a poem called "I know why the caged bird sings", but, an autobiographical novel, detailing her painful childhood, which included rape, abandonment, and racism. A sad, but excellent read. Paul Lawrence Dunbar wrote a poem called "Sympathy" that talks about a caged bird singing.

I found a Marguerite Reeb who teaches painting to children and adults in Mundolsheim, France. The website dates from 2006.

I can't find any examples of her paintings online, but maybe she is the artist. The other listings I'm finding for this name are mostly genealogical and mostly in French.

The guy ahead of me said they were annuals but here in Calif. A lot of them are perrenials.
