which spelling is nicer?
thanks
Margaret or Marguerite?
Margaret. The other one is kind of pretentious.
Reply:Marguerite
Good luck and congrats!
Reply:Margaret. Marguerite reminds me of Margarita. Not good.
Reply:They are both different names, but I thing Marguerite is the better of the two.
Reply:Marguerite is nicer, but its pronounced mar-ga-reet.
Reply:Margaret. If you name your baby that, you cann call her Maggie! My daughter's name is Maggie Claire Giulia Hayes. Some middle names to go with Margaret or Maggie are
Giulia (Julia spelled the Italian way)
Hannah
Quinn
Claire
Erin
Marie
Anne/ Anna
Reply:I prefer Margaret, personally -- and love the nicknames Maggie or Maisie, if you'd use them ;) -- but it really depends on which PRONUNCIATION you like best.
Margaret is pretty straightforward, so I'll assume you're familiar with that, but Marguerite is the French form, and not said identically. That would be mar-ge-REET. If you are French, and didn't mean you'd be pronouncing them the same, it's a nice nod to your heritage and a lovely idea. Otherwise, I still prefer Margaret. ;)
Hope that helps.
Reply:margaret! Marguerite looks like it's Mar-goo-er-ite.
Reply:Margaret all the way for an English speaking child unless there's a really good reason for using Marguerite. It just has too much going on, people are likely to misspell it.
Reply:Marguerite
Reply:Margaret?! Isnt old people now a days named Margaret?? Marguerite sounds very sophisticated and also very cultured...
Reply:Margaret
Reply:Margaret and variant name Marguerite both mean Pearl
Margaret is of Greek origin , while Marguerite is Old French.
I prefer Marguerite -- Rolls off the tongue and sounds more feminine
Reply:Margaret, it's more simple.
Reply:Margaret. Maggie is such a cute nickname.
Reply:Margo
Reply:Margaret
Marguerite sounds like a drink.
Reply:I pronounce these differently!
Margaret for Mar-guh-ret or Mar-gret
Marguerite for Mar-goor-reet (Like thr drink, as mentioned above)
Both are nice, but I prefer Margaret.
Reply:I prefer Margaret. Marguerite is pronounced differently. Unless you're French it sounds pretentious.
Reply:I love Marguerite.
